The A’s have done it again. They’ve unloaded almost all their star talent, partly because of the usual budget constraints, but maybe also to speed their eventual departure from Oakland. They dumped their best two position players, Matt Olson and Matt Chapman, along with two quality starters in Chris Bassitt and Sean Manaea. They’re going to suck this year.

Which is why the A’s are such a great bet. Of course they’ll Moneyball their way out of this, and not suck as badly as the betting market expects – at least to start the season. This is our chance to hop on the Adam Oller train; he’ll make his MLB debut Tuesday for Oakland.
